Gyaneshwar Thapliyal, the former Delhi allrounder, died in Mumbai on November 25 while undergoing treatment for cancer. He was 69.Prasad, a right-hand batsman and an offspin bowler, played 68 first-class matches from 1958-59 and 1973-74, scoring 2297 runs at 25.24. He also took 98 wickets at 19.87, with career-best bowling figures of 9 for 34 while playing for North Zone.He represented Delhi for 15 years and turned out for Southern Punjab in the 1966-67 season. After retiring, he worked as a Ranji selector, as well as a manager for state and zonal teams.
