Chelsea manager Antonio Conte confirmed in his pre-match press conference for the opening day Premier League clash against Burnley at Stamford Bridge that Pedro will be missing because of an ankle injury.
The Spaniard picked up the knock before he was sent off during the Blues’ Community Shield defeat to Arsenal at Wembley last Sunday, and it means that the hosts will be missing both him and Eden Hazard for the visit of the Clarets on Saturday.
It will be interesting to see how Conte reshuffles a side that will also be missing Timeoue Bakayoko because of injury and Victor Moses through suspension, with summer signing Alvaro Morata potentially starting in one of the wide forward options even with youngsters such as Charly Musonda and Jeremie Boga hoping to take advantage of the crisis.
Chelsea supporters were quick to have their say on the news via social media, and they are keen in particular for Musonda to be given a chance to replace Pedro against Sean Dyche’s side.
