Everton’s disastrous run of form continued as they were beaten 4-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, and Toffees fans singled out defender Ashley Williams for criticism.
Ronald Koeman’s men have now lost their last four matches in all competitions, failing to score and conceding 12 goals in the process.
While Antonio Valencia put the Red Devils ahead with a stunning strike, the visitors would still have fancied their chances of stealing a point before Williams gave the ball away seven minutes from time and former Toffee Romelu Lukaku set up Henrikh Mkhitaryan to fire home the second goal.
Lukaku and Anthony Martial completed the rout, which leaves the Merseyside outfit 18th in the standings with four points from their opening five Premier League fixtures.
Everton supporters were quick to have their say on Williams’ performance via social media, and while some described his showing as “garbage”, others went as far as saying they ‘hope he never plays for the club again’.
